First NEB project approved!

Förderbescheidübergabe mit Ministerpräsident Dr. Reiner Haseloff

The Prime Minister came to Kleinpaschleben to hand over the funding notice

Economical, ecological and socially sustainable. This is what the "Family Center - Healthy.Together.Living." in the center of Kleinpaschleben is going to be. It is the first funding project in the state of Saxony-Anhalt to receive approval for funding from the European JTF (Just Transition Fund) as part of the EU initiative New European Bauhaus (NEB). On february the 10th 2025, Prime Minister Dr. Reiner Haseloff came to the town of 800 inhabitants to hand over the funding notices to those working together on this – the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and the Osternienburger Land community. With a great response.

Many people came to attend the big moment when the funding notice was being handed over. In addition to the citizens present, Saxony-Anhalt's Minister of Economic Affairs Sven Schulze attended the event as well as the President of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Jörg Bagdan and mayor Torsten Lorenz. Everyone was united by the happy news of the day: The great potential of the school building, which has been closed and hardly in use since 2016, can finally be beneficial for the local community, the people in the village and the region. The building has slumbered in a deep sleep for a long time, but now it can be awakened: for more life, for more community, for more future. This is made possible by the state initiative #NeueBauhäusler: "Saxony-Anhalt: Together for a New European Bauhaus (NEB)" and the associated European funding. The 300,000 euros, that have been approved will be used in particular for the innovative concept phase, that is now beginning. The Anhalt University of Applied Sciences being the community's scientific and creative partner, will investigate with its students, even before the actual planning begins, how the 16,000 m² former primary school building, with the adjacent open spaces, can be converted into a future-oriented center for young and old using an approach, that is in accordance with the NEB criteria. This was also shown by the first ideas and designs presented by the students on this day. The master's graduate of the Department of Architecture Felix Benz and the bachelor's students of landscape architecture Pauline Dörr and Elena Schmidt presented their creative designs, and there was discussion and exchange.

What happens next?

When the NEB-supported concept phase is completed, the plan is to finish the planning work by June 2025 and finish the building work by 2029. 4.5 million Euro is going towards the project from the "Saxony-Anhalt Revier 2038" structural funding.
